Moon Run Farm
Lessons

We offer lessons 6 days a week (Monday through Saturday) with flexible schedules to accommodate busy lives. We offer private, semi-private (2-3 students), and group lessons (3 or more students).

Children as young as 4 years old are encouraged to ride, and we have many safe pint-sized ponies for them to enjoy. We generally start the younger children  out riding for 1/2 an hour and then they can move up to an hour lesson when they feel ready.

As part of our goal to create real horsemen and women, all riders will learn how to get their horses ready for their ride. During this time, riders learn how to properly lead a horse around the barn, how to groom the horse, and how to tack their horse up. When the lesson has completed, riders learn how to untack their horses and put them away properly. Those who want to learn about other aspects of horse care are encouraged to stick around and lend a helping hand with the barn chores.

When you arrive for your first lesson all you need is to bring long pants, shoes with heels, and an enthusiasm to learn all about riding. We have plenty of helmets and everything your horse needs for the lesson.

Come ride inside with us this winter! Our indoor riding ring makes us able to ride no matter what the weather. If roads are bad, however, please call ahead, as we would like for everyone to stay safe.

Summer Camp

For 5 weeks in the summer, Moon Run Farm offers a day camp for young riders. Children come to camp Monday through Friday, 9 o'clock am to 4 o'clock pm for older kids and 9 o'clock am to 1 o'clock pm for the younger crowd. Children have the opportunity to ride twice daily, while the rest of the day is filled with learning about all aspects of horse care. Some of the activities include a farrier demonstration, trail rides, learning to ride western and side saddle, swimming, and much more.
